I couldn't pick just one! Often I come across marvellous quotes while reading, and I never pick up and pen and write them down, how silly. I did like it when Adrian Plass said in one of this books (Yorrick) something along the lines of:
"You can't make delicate little china ornaments in the middle of the night from a pile of rotting cabbage with thick woollen gloves on."
Which means, in effect, you can't expect to do amazing things without proper materials and appropriate conditions. It helps me to take the pressure off myself when things don't turn out as I planned!
